This is one of the best homeschooling products I have ever purchased. I use it almost entirely orally. It is a fabulous way to make grammar understandable. Level 4 is also very good. I have the teachers version for 3 and I am not enjoying it as well, nor is my child. My verdict is still out on that one. Of course, It is VERY worthwhile as well; I would purchase the student version though and skip around a bit according to your child's previous exposure and interest.

It was begun by Hubert van Eyck who was most likely responsible for the overall design, but died in 1426. Probably, the individual panels were executed by his younger and better known brother Jan van Eyck between 1430 and 1432. Although there have been extensive attempts to isolate passages attributable to either brother, no separation has been convincingly established. Most art historians accept that it was probably designed and constructed by Hubert and the panels were painted by Jan. The altarpiece was commissioned by the merchant, financier and politician, Jodocus Vijd, the city mayor of Ghent . It was designed for the chapel he and his wife acted as benefactors for, today's Saint Bavo Cathedral, then the parochial church of John the Baptist, protectorate to the city. The History of Art, explained!

Carol Strickland has written one of the most entertaining, comprehensive, and comprehensible books on art history currently on the market. Not only does she provide soundbites on the meaning, style, and creation of selected works (which are produced in beautiful, truthful images) she gives information about the lives of the artists. This book is probably one of the most inclusive and up-to-date works on this subject you will find. I have found it extraordinarily helpful in studying for the AP Art History exam and for the class in art history I am taking. (Recommended: reading the book's summary and volunteering your information from it in class.) If you are looking for a book to help you in that test, look no further. Even for those reading the subject merely for fun, Strickland's writing style is easy and fun to read, and bridges the often yawning gap between the art world and the real world. She shows a true gift for taking an overwhelming, sprawling subject and making ordered, objective sense of it.

I used to teach undergraduate Art History. I wouldn't use this book as a textbook but it is serviceable for someone who wants a sketch of art throughout the ages. I.e., it isn't too academic.

Art History made Easy

Excellent used condition, book. So happy I bought this instead of a much more expensive new one. Also, it's kind of like a cheat sheet for Art History. It covers a lot of info in small, understandable pieces. I am going to use it as a supplement for teaching high school Art History.
