This is an excellant review book for the former student of french. Instead of the usual slow progress of the "learn french" genre, this book is for the person who once knew french, but forgot it from lack of use. I've purchased two tape series in the past that bored me to tears from the repetition of je suis, tu es, il est. This book rocks and helps you to restore what you used to know! I only wish it had tapes so that I could work on pronunciation. I guess that's what my tutor's for.

I had French in college for 1 year, I was trying to find my class notes to review what I had learned. Since I couldn't find them, I searched for a reference book and this book is exactly what I was looking for!
It covers a lot of grammar rules (and their exceptions), the conjugation of verbs in all tenses (from passé composé to pluperperfect tense and more), rules for definite and indefinite articles, and lots of good examples and exercises (with answers on the back)! I specially liked the "note culturelle" sections. It even comes with a French idioms chapter. The authors did a great job on this book and the price is excellent!
I wish I had had this book back in college, but now that I have it, I know it will serve as a lifetime reference. I strongly recommend this book for anyone seriously studying French!
