About the Author
Bob Neubauer was born in Chicago, but lived most of his life in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Penn State University and subsequently worked as an audio tape editor, a wedding videographer, a messenger in New York City and a film sound recordist. After completing his East Coast bike trip, he landed a position as a freelance reporter for the Philadelphia Inquirer. Following that, he took a job at a publishing company and eventually became the editor of a national trade magazine there. He continues to write freelance travel stories, and his articles have appeared in the Inquirer, The Los Angeles Times, The San Francisco Examiner, The Boston Globe and The Newark Star Ledger. He also wrote a chapter for the book "Weekend Journeys," published by the Inquirer and a chapter in the book "Cycling's Greatest Misadventures," published by Casagrande Press. Bob Neubauer is also the author of Alone in Austria: A Solo Bike Trip Across Austria.

Hi Bob: I am a mother of three teenagers from New Jersey.
Just finished reading your memoir on your solo bike ride across the East Coast. I must say I enjoyed every inch of the journey with you.
I love riding bicycles but have been busy raising a family and coming up with other excuses as to why I haven't biked as much as I wished to.
Your story has motivated me to dust off my bike and drive around like crazy in my neighborhood at least three times a week.
I love the exhilarating freedom it offers. May be someday I can get out of the neighborhood into the town, the next one, the nearest park, the ocean and so on...

Loved it! I am not a cyclist and never ...

Loved it! I am not a cyclist and never will be, but I don't think you have to be to enjoy this book. I felt like I was riding alongside! It was interesting, funny, and a little scary now and then. It said as much about the people he encountered along the way as about Bob himself. Lots of history, geography, and just an all around interesting read. I would recommend to anyone.

Great book, easy read

Great book, easy read, funny and witty. Proves that an average cyclist can plan and execute an extended ride without thousands of dollars of top of the line gear. Plus, even when things don't go exactly as planned, bumps in the road can be worked out and your journey can continue. Makes me want to plan a multi-week ride and live the dream of this writer Bob Neubauer.
